We Run for the Glory of God!

Last Friday, April 23rd, The Heiskell School held its infamous Olympic Day! Each student from first to eighth grade was broken into teams representing four countries. As each class went through the various events, the scores were written down and compiled at the end of the day.
Mexico took the gold, followed by Japan in second. South Africa came in third, closely followed by the United Kingdom. It was incredible to watch each student give their best in every event! However, what was most comforting was the encouragement that seemed to surround The Heiskell School like a cloud on a foggy day. Students were cheering for classmates and fellow teammates to keep working hard and to never give up. What a blessing to see all the character building done in the classroom applied to real life! Last Friday, third grade lived out the meaning of 1 Thessalonians 5:11 "Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing."

On Your Mark... Get Set... Go!

Olympic Day is right around the corner! This Friday at The Heiskell School, each student will be participating in multiple field events including a lay-up contest, a balloon toss, and a water sponge race! We look forward to displaying our athletic talents that the Lord has blessed us with on Friday! Don't forget to drink plenty of water and rest up for the big day!

Future Senators? Maybe in a Few Years!

We have returned from our adventure to our state's capitol, and we had a blast! We explored the beautiful building from top to bottom and even had the privilege of entering both the House and Senate Chambers! Each third grader had the chance to view the legislators' desks, as well as pick up the infamous gavel. However, our adventure didn't stop there! Senator George Hooks surprised us in the hallway with a smile and a handshake for every Heiskell student! It was a great honor to meet him and we all were beaming with pride! After visiting the museum on the top floor, we headed outside to sketch the interesting things we saw. The students loved visiting this important architectural and historic landmark and maybe one day a Heiskell alumni will run for office. We never know what the Lord has in store for us! Below are pictures from our big day.
